back to posting

Whoops, I kinda forgot about this blog and the daily posting I was supposed to be doing. Well, 2 months have gone by, but I will start up again.

Here is an example of my practicing today. Jack just loves to run back & forth across the backyard. He is a fast runner for 4! I practiced panning today and this one is my favorite. I like the way that Jack & Bronte are still blurred, giving the image motion. I will try to remember my settings for when I post here, but I think this was a lower SS, like 40, f around 4 or 5, shot in manual. I will check the settings when I open the pic in photoshop.

Nice to be back!

March 7

I hate to admit it, but I think I will be a once-a-week blogger. Just suits my style/schedule better.
These are pictures taken at my kids classes yesterday ~ Kami is just crazy, Jack is enjoying music circle. Yep ~ my kids.

Meet Conner. What a cutie! and the deepest blue eyes. We just did his 10 month photo session yesterday.

I owe a List of the Six Things That Make Me Happy:
1. yummy food
2. a rich California red Zinfandel
3. summertime
4. skiing on a warm spring day
5. the silence in the house after the kids are all at school
6. nailing my focus and exposure on a great shot

I took pictures at Kami's class today while they were participating in Jump Rope for Life.
P.S. I promise to do the 6 thing that I was tagged for. Just waaaay too tired tonight.

Back to daily posts! Yay.

We have had such a dense fog the past few days, but just a little while ago the sun started to break through. I went outside and took these pictures. Sun and dewdrops always make for an interesting image, and they make me smile.

I apologize for not keeping up daily with this blog, but life keeps getting in the way. Last week was such a busy week ~ finishing up all the editing for Baby Loves Disco photo shoot, and preparing a presentation (including a slideshow) for a MOPS group. Both went well and are done ~ yay! I sold my first image from BLD so now I feel validated that the pictures are ok.

Today I was experimenting with a new action that I purchased (a chocolate collection) and a border/frame that was generously offered on ILP last fall. I like the look as a valentine card.
This is an picture from last summer, but all the editing was done today. Leah wants to send some valentines to her friends that live back in Canada, so I will do up some special cards with pictures of her & her friends so she can email them.

January 27

Both my girls complained that Jack was getting more blogtime than them. So today I present Kami & Leah. Kami is upside down, as is her usually position these days. Leah is posing, as she likes to do for me.

Jack is starting to get interested in drawing. He draws such detailed little lines all over the place. Such a boy.

Look what happens when we get warmer temperatures and a bit of sunshine. The Pacific Northwest has had such a rough winter, and we are all rather sick of it. When I saw these primroses at the store yesterday, I HAD to buy them. Look at the gorgeous bright colours!

I even have a few sprouts of hyacinths & crocuses coming up too. Ah, that feels good.

January 24

Well, maybe I am an alternate day poster for the time being. I am very busy with the Baby Loves Disco photos ~ they need alot of editing due to the dark room we were in, and the moving kids too.

Here is the birth announcement I am working on. I like it.

Oops ~ lost another day ~ sorry!

This is another picture from the spruce branches with melting snow pouring off them. I loved the sunlight (esp after the weather we have had here lately), so I went for a strong sun presence in this shot.

I was asked to do pictures at an event this past weekend, and I decided to do it, although it was my first indoor event. It went alright, but I am editing tons of pictures. And learning to edit RAW in photoshop CS which is new for me. New stuff is good stuff!!! Unfortunately I can't share any of these as I don't know any of the people and definitely have no signed releases.

I will get back to taking some pictures around the house & in my life again this week. No snowstorms forecasted which means a full week of school for the kids. Yay!

Look ~ green!!! The snow is melting away, dripping off the branches of the trees, sliding off the roof and creating puddles on the sidewalks.

Sorry I missed yesterday ~ just didn't quite make it.

P.S. Happy Birthday Jim!!!!!

I'm cheating a bit today, as this isn't a picture from today, but I edited it today. Does that count?!? ;-)
Bronte has had such fun in the snow. She just turned 1, and this has been her first snow experience. Definitely a snow-lovin' doggie!
BTW, I was asked what breed Bronte is ~ she is a Welsh Terrier. She looks like a miniature Airedale.

My favorite picture (so far) from this session. This is Hayden, with his big brother looking in on him. I love the eye contact of Hayden to his brother.

Jack is having fun in the snow. He doesn't last long, but the rosy cheeks he gets are SO cute!

Meet wee little Hayden. I had the privilege taking pictures of him this morning. He is 15 days old. What a sweetie!

SNOWSTORM!!!!
I am going to work on DOF today and try to get detailed snowflake pictures. I will try to get them done for today, but this photographic opportunity might blend into tomorrow's post too ;-)

A few versions of the same picture. This is of my 7 year old, Kami, who loves to give Bronte (the dog) piggybacks. Yup, never a dull moment in this household.

Anyways, please let me know which version you like best. Vote now, vote often!
